We are Rosedale residents — parents, neighbors, business owners, and homeowners — united to protect the safety and quality of life in our community.
For decades, Rosedale has been a peaceful, residential neighborhood where families walk, bike, and gather. We believe in responsible growth that respects neighborhood infrastructure, safety, and long-standing protections like deed restrictions.
Today, our community faces an unprecedented challenge. A proposal by AISD and a OHT Developers would replace the former Rosedale Elementary School with a 435-unit, six-story apartment complex served only by small neighborhood streets.
We support strong public schools and recognize AISD’s financial challenges. But we also believe:
- The proposal would overwhelm local streets with traffic.
- The neighborhood infrastructure cannot support this level of density.
- One neighborhood should not be asked to shoulder a disproportionate burden for a district-wide budget issue.
- Decisions made about the Rosedale site may set a precedent for how other closed school properties across Austin are redeveloped.
We organize to ensure that decisions affecting our neighborhood are transparent, fair, and respectful of the community’s interests.
Our mission: Promote thoughtful redevelopment that protects public safety, neighborhood infrastructure, and quality of life in Rosedale — for current residents, future neighbors, and generations to come.
Meet Our Attorney: Renea Hicks
