Rosedale residents held a little block party of sorts on Sunday, March 16, to demonstrate how just a few dozen extra cars and about 50 people can overwhelm the capacity of one of the narrow neighborhood streets around the original Rosedale Elementary School. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is even better.
The gathering was on Ramsey Ave., one of three narrow neighborhood streets that surround the school. Those streets and several others that connect to them would have to absorb approximately two thousand vehicle trips per day if ASID and its developer, OHT Partners, have their way.
ASID is suing more than 100 Rosedale property owners in an attempt to force a six-story, 435 unit, luxury apartment building down their throats. This development would more than double the population of the northern half of the Rosedale neighborhood and choke the area with traffic, day in and day out. The school property has no direct access to any major thoroughfare and would simply overwhelm the infrastructure.
